VR & Technical Art
About the Program
Technical Artists are in high demand in the games industry because they combine the best of two worlds: they can generate graphics procedurally, create visual effects, and write shaders. Explore the world of VR & Game Development!
In the Technical Art program you learn to bridge the gap between artists and developers. You decide for yourself whether to focus more on graphics or programming. Elective courses include Computer Science or Design Fundamentals (including Pixel Art), Concept Art or Programming II, 3D Animation, Mixed Reality Development, and much more.
Throughout the program you gain in-depth knowledge of shader programming, visual effects (VFX) creation, procedural content generation, and technical optimization. Working with industry-standard tools such as Unity and Unreal Engine, you learn real-time rendering techniques and performance optimization.
You can work across a wide range of industries that combine 3D graphics and programming: media agencies, advertising, the automotive industry, web development, Virtual/Augmented/Mixed Reality, and even the film industry. At the Heidelberg campus you will work on real-world projects in state-of-the-art technology labs.
