What is StudiStep and what services does it offer?
StudiStep is a professional consulting center that gives Turkish students the opportunity to study in Germany. We offer comprehensive services such as 3 years of free education, housing support, visa procedures, university registration and a notarized lottery system.
How does the 3 years of free education work?
For students selected through our notarized lottery system, all tuition fees are covered during the first 3 years of their bachelor's studies at our partner universities in Germany. During this period, students pay no tuition.
How does the notarized lottery system work?
After all applications are reviewed, a transparent and fair draw is held before a notary among the eligible candidates. The process is fully transparent and all candidates have an equal chance; winning students are officially notified.
Can I apply without knowing German?
Yes, you can apply without knowing German. Most of our programs are taught in English. In addition, during your stay in Germany you'll be able to take free A1–A2 level German courses.
In which cities can I study?
Our partner universities are located in leading German cities such as Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Köln and Düsseldorf. Students can choose the city according to their preferences.
Is there an application fee?
Only a one-time fee of €49 is charged for the application. In return, you get both the right to enter the lottery and free A1 and A2 language courses.
Which programs are available?
We offer bachelor's programs in various fields such as Economics, Technology, Media and Communication, Education and Social Affairs, Health and Sport, and Psychology. For the detailed program list, visit our website.

Application Process

What documents do I need to apply?

The following documents are required to apply:

  • ID document
  • High-school diploma or equivalent
  • Transcript of records
  • Passport copy
  • Résumé (CV)
  • Motivation letter
  • Language certificate (if available)

All documents must be translated into English or German.

How long does the application process take?
Your application process is completed on average within 4–6 weeks. This time may vary depending on document review, pre-evaluation and the draw date. We'll stay in touch with you at every stage.
Is there an age limit to apply?
For our bachelor's programs you must be between 18 and 50 years old. For master's programs the age limit is more flexible.
When are the application results announced?
After your application is completed, the pre-evaluation is finished within 2 weeks. Draws are held every 6 months, and the winner is informed within 24 hours of the draw via website, dashboard, SMS, email and WhatsApp.
Can I apply to more than one program?
Yes, you can apply to up to 3 different programs at the same time. This way you increase your options and can take advantage of opportunities in different fields.
Can I get help with enrollment?
Yes, we fully handle the entire enrollment process. We prepare the necessary documents for you and ensure your university registration is completed without gaps.

How long does the visa application take?
The student visa application takes on average 6–12 weeks. This period may vary depending on the workload of the German Consulate.
How do I get an appointment for the visa application?
The visa appointment is booked online via the German Consulate's official website. We guide you through booking the appointment and preparing the required documents.
What happens if the visa application is rejected?
If the visa is rejected, the consulate states the reason for refusal. You can address the shortcomings and reapply; we support you throughout the process.
How much is the visa application fee?
The student visa application fee is €75 and is paid directly to the consulate. We guide you throughout the entire visa process.

Financial Matters

What are the monthly living costs in Germany?
As a student in Germany, monthly living costs average between €800 and €1,200, covering housing, food, transport and personal expenses. With the first 6 months of housing support these costs decrease; in addition, we cover the €800 living expenses needed for the first months.
Can I work while studying?
Yes, with the student visa you have the right to work 120 full days or 240 half days per year. Working part-time, you gain experience and earn your pocket money; the average hourly wage is between €12 and €15.
Is health insurance mandatory and what does it cost?
In Germany, student health insurance is mandatory. It costs about €110 per month, and with it you can use all health services free of charge.
Are there scholarship opportunities?
Yes, for successful students there are DAAD, Erasmus+ and various foundation scholarships. Universities also grant scholarships to academically successful students; we help you with this.
What is a blocked account (Sperrkonto) and how much is required?
A blocked account is the financial security account required for the student visa. For 2025 you must open a blocked account of at least €11,208. This amount is fully covered by us, paid out to you monthly and can be used for your living expenses.
How much is the tuition for the 4th year?
After the first 3 free years, the average annual tuition for the 4th year ranges from €3,000 to €6,000. However, by then you can cover this cost by working part-time.
How do I open a bank account?
To open a student bank account in Germany, a passport and enrollment certificate are sufficient. Most banks offer free account options for students; we help you with opening the account.

Accommodation

How long is housing support provided?
Lottery winners are provided with free housing for the first 6 months from their arrival in Germany. During this time, students stay in safe and comfortable dormitories.
How are the dormitory rooms arranged?
Our student dormitories are modern and comfortable. Single or double room options are available; every room has a bed, desk, wardrobe and internet connection. Common areas, a kitchen and a laundry room are available.
What do I need to do for housing after 6 months?
After the first 6 months, students can find their own accommodation or continue staying in the dormitories. Dormitory rent averages between €250 and €400; we support you during the housing search.
Can I rent an apartment?
Yes, many students choose a private apartment or a flat-share (WG) after 6 months. Monthly rent ranges from €300 to €600 depending on the city; we help you find a place.

Study Programs

Which programs can I apply for?
We offer bachelor's programs in Business Administration, Computer Science, Digital Media, Teaching, Physiotherapy, Psychology and many other fields. For the detailed list, visit our website.
What is the language of instruction?
Most of our programs are taught in English; some are in German. You can consider the language of instruction when choosing a program. Free German courses are also offered.
How long does the program take?
Bachelor's programs usually take 3–4 years. The tuition for the first 3 years is covered. Some programs also include internships or practical work phases.
Is the degree recognized?
Yes, degrees obtained from universities in Germany are valid worldwide and in Turkey. Under the Bologna process, degree equivalence between European universities is ensured.
Can I stay in Germany after graduation?
Yes, after graduation you can stay in Germany for 18 months to look for a job. Once you find work, you can apply for a work permit and continue working in Germany.
